This July 7th, Rocket League turns 8 years old. Psyonix is celebrating the 8th anniversary with brand new birthday items and a returning special in-game event — Birthday Ball, running from June 28th to July 12th. This event opens up for the Super Cube and Beach Ball limited-time game modes, and allows you to unlock birthday items by completing challenges.

As you can see, Psyonix has released a collection of “Noire” items, which are black and white versions of existing items. This includes Black Market items Party Time: Noire and Storm Watch: Noire, which we have never seen before for an event like this. These two items are available for purchase in the Item Shop.

Some of our long-time members might remember that RL Garage actually released a full day before Rocket League itself, so we’re technically older than the game. And while we can’t add new items and game modes to the game, we can host a birthday giveaway. That will go live next week — stay tuned!

We also have a pretty big update on the horizon. It’s a community-focused update that has been in the works for about a year now, and is currently being tested by our beta testers. It’s not quite ready yet for our anniversary, but we look forward to sharing more information about it very soon!
